The DjungleJam story...
I travel Thailand for a couple of years.
(started 1993) Went to all the "normal" tourist places with my backpack so my guitar was left at home.
One day I stumbled over a Ukulele and quickly learn a few chords and fell in love with it. Next trip I packed my Uke inside the backpack and went to my favorite country.
After a couple of days walking to the bus my backpack was full and I tied the Uke on the outside.
That was the startingpoint of my jungle jam story.
Where ever I went people could not resist talking about my "baby guitar" or touching it or saying can you play on it?
I got lots of new friends and one Japanese guy I met in Bangkok told me about the jam sessions in Chiang Mai.
I jumped the next train and went looking for the place where local and tourist musicians meet in the evenings jamming. Now I have forgotten the name of the place I was looking for but I never found it on my first trip. I was asking the local people. They did not know that place and probably did not understand the word "jamming" (my mistake)..
Next year I asked a couple of tourists and they showed me to the North East corner of the old Chiang Mai. I found the Baan Kao Tuk and fell in love with the ambience, the local musicians and the lifestyle.
Of course I just had to share it with you guys!! :-)
